Turning Down Water for Air (James Yuill, 2008)

Ever since I heard Yuill’s version of “Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box” I know I will like him—well, for being brave enough to cover Radiohead and still sounding good. This debut album confirms that. His voice penetrates, his songs stay inside you until you breathe them out. The synths and the acoustic guitar hit you as a pair of lonely tools out to burst your melancholia and leave you in tender wallow. It is just the perfect kind of chill to spend a lazy Sunday morning, cozy and homey.
